MLB Sides and Totals: Runs will be in short supply in Miami
Despite the short MLB slate, we found three spots that provide great opportunities to cash.💰
Dodgers vs. Marlins u8.5 (-114): The Marlins bats have been on fire in this series, but look for Ryan Pepiot and the Dodgers bullpen to be the fire extinguisher.🧯There was nothing in Miami’s recent form before this series that showed that it could handle quality pitching in this manner. Hence, a return to the norm is likely coming tonight. As for the slumping Dodger bats, they draw an excellent starter in Braxton Garrett, who, coupled with a surging Marlins bullpen, should keep the LA lineup in check for one more day. The offensive explosion is coming from the Dodgers; it’s just not coming tonight. Look for a pitcher's duel that slides under the total.
Mariners F5 ML-130 vs. Rays: The Rays are in the better recent form of these two teams coming into this game, but the Mariners are sending their best and most consistent pitcher to the bump in Luis Castillo while Tampa Bay counters with the mediocre Zack Littell. That starting pitching matchup is the difference tonight. Both teams can rake, and both teams have strong but extremely overworked pens, so we’re isolating the one clear advantage between these two teams tonight, and that is the starting pitchers. Look for Seattle to jump on Littell early, staking Castillo to a lead he will hold through the first five frames. Again, the Mariners relievers have had heavy workloads recently, and their performance is suffering, so let’s take them out of the equation and go with the first half moneyline here.
Cubs vs. Diamondbacks u8.5 (-110): The weather angle didn’t pan out for us yesterday, thanks to the Giants' offensive failings against Cubs starter Jordan Wicks. We’re going back to the well anyway because this angle has been a proven money-maker. Winds will be blowing in today at 15+ mph, meaning balls hit in the air will not carry, making the home run a nonfactor and runs, in general, hard to come by. Throw in how well Chicago starter Javier Assad has been pitching and that he is facing a Diamondbacks lineup that has struggled to hit righties the last few weeks, and it should be a very quiet night for the Arizona bats, offsetting any hay the Cubs lineup can make against Arizona starter Ryne Nelson.
MLB Pitcher Props: Slim pickings thanks to a short slate
With only six games on the docket, it’s just two pitcher props to roll with today.
Adam Wainwright o2.5 K’s (+130): If Wainwright can give us any length tonight against a potent Braves lineup, even he should be able to hit this over and at plus money, it’s definitely worth a stab.
Ryan Pepiot u4.5 K’s (+110): Our projections have Pepiot almost half a run under this total, presenting us with some nice value.
NFL Week 1: The offenses will rule Arrowhead in tonight’s season opener
The NFL is back and taking center stage with its season opener in what should be a wildly entertaining game between two offensive juggernauts. Despite questions about the status of Travis Kelce making this game harder to forecast from a betting perspective, we believe we found a way to attack tonight’s matchup and head to the pay window after a night of offensive fireworks.
Chiefs vs. Lions o52.5 (-112): The injury to Chiefs stud tight end Travis Kelce and the uncertainty as to whether he will play tonight and, if so, how well, makes forecasting this total trickier, but getting 1.5 points back should help us hit the over. We believe Kelce will play tonight; hopefully, for all of us on the over, he plays well. That said, we have history on our side here. Since 2016, the Andy Reid-led Chiefs have scored 33, 42, 38, 40, 34, 33, and 44 in their Week 1 contests. Even if Kelce is not a factor, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes is good enough to light up the scoreboard with even the most inexperienced and suspect group of receiving weapons. As for the Lions, they are a high-octane offense in their own right and will be a team coming into Kansas City with a chip on their shoulder looking to show they belong with the “big boys.” Detroit head man Dan Campbell tends to get into high-scoring affairs in his season openers as well, with totals of 74 and 73 in his two Week 1 games at the helm of the Lions. When you also factor in that neither of these defenses is nearly as good as their opposite number offenses and that the Chiefs' best defensive player, defensive tackle Chris Jones, is holding out in a contract dispute, it’s hard not to expect the scoreboard to light up like a pinball machine tonight. Get a snack and a beverage🍺 and enjoy the fireworks as this game sails over the total.
That’s a wrap gang. We’ve got some exciting plays we believe are poised to cash. Again, make sure to check Twitter/X @give_me_wins for all the latest from the GIVE ME WINS team.
